Potentially Asked Questions
Who's putting this on?
This is not a corporate event by a promotor. This is two weirdos who love Halloween wanting to share the magic of the season with like minded Halloween lovers. We want to make this a memorable experience for everyone, and after checking out several venues, thought Brockton Pavilion would be the most special. We wont stop there. Lights need to be special, music needs to be special, performances need to be special. We want you to remember this Halloween for the rest of your lives. Sean is an animator, horror buff, magician and alter ego of Aliester Crane . Ben works as a prop master in film and TV. They both became friends working on a haunted house. Previously we've hosted Trick or Treat: That Halloween Party at the WISE hall and Butcher and Bullock.
Is there a costume contest? Do I need to wear a costume?
We will have a costume contest with winners announced around 10:31. Prize categories may be modified depending on the costumes. We've all been there where the person with the loudest cheering friends or tightest fitting sexy costume wins, and we're not about that. We want your creativity and hard work to be respected. Prizes will be announced on social media. Of course you will be let in if you don't have a costume, but we fully encourage you to get into the spirit of Halloween somehow, or dress to impress in your own way.
What should I bring or not bring?
Common sense is king here. Please leave your real weapons at home. No metal or sharp blades. If anything is convincingly real you'll be asked to show it at the door to prove that it's not. Please do not bring outside food or drink. There will be both available at the event. Please leave your smokes at home as no smoking or open flame is allowed in the park. You should bring a flashlight if you are walking to a car or transit through the park as it is pretty dark and spooky. You may want to bring some cash should you feel the desire to tip one of the performers. If you bring an umbrella or coat, there will be a coat check area (TBD if it's self serve or staffed) .
What do I get for $45? Are there any discounts?
The evening will include many performances, some of which may be just for you. There will also be contests, including the costume contest with many great prizes to be won. This is more than just a party. We get it, $45 can seem steep for a party but $100 can seem appropriate for a play. The ticket price is based on the costs to pay performers, rentals, the venue, insurance, and decorations. This is not a for-profit event and the organizers are putting a lot of themselves and their decorations, lights and talent into this for free. If you would like to save a little money, you can pay be e-transfer. If you'd like to save all the money you can volunteer and help us set up, tear down, or put in a bit of time during the event. Either way, please email us.
Can I be involved?
How many pumpkins will there be?
Yes! We are still looking for people to help with the event. We need people to help with ticketing, setup, lighting, sound, and may even have room for another performer. Honorariums and dinner provided. Contact info@blacklanterninn.ca if you'd like to be involved.
Last time I counted there were more than 101 pumpkins and we keep buying more.
